Cuyahoga Falls, August 8, 2013

It's the day before we start out on our houseboat vacation in the 1000 Islands of Lake Ontario. We are mostly ready. The planning has been done and we are down to our final items on the checklists. We had planned to have dinner with Anne and Nate and Aubrey at El Meson, of course. But Anne called in the morning and said she was not feeling so well, and had to work late, and suggested we eat at their home instead. We agreed and said we would bring dinner.

Rosemary came over about 4:30 and brought us a big batch of "breakfast bars, and many of her delicious breakfast quiches. Yea Rosemary. Kerry wrapped the cookies back to back in plastic wrap. This keeps them fresh and prevents breaking. Mom did this when she sent cookies to me in Viet Nam.

Getting a big batch of cookies before we take a trip has become a wonderful tradition. Kerry immediately sampled a cookie to make sure it was good. It was - I helped her taste. This was an oatmeal cookie with cherries, cranberries and pecans. Yum. We took some to Anne's, and the Clarks also gave them a "delicious" grade.

When we got home we did the final packing of the car. Much to our dismay we discovered that we could not get everything into the car. We decided that the folding bikes had to stay home.

Our bikes had to stay home in their travel bags

Bummer. I had worked earlier in the day to clean them and lubricate the bike chains. I could not believe they would not fit, knowing that they did when we went to Florida. Thinking about it later, I decided it was because we had to bring our water, bed clothes, towels, pillows, some boating items, etc., which we did not take to Florida. We decided that we would leave about 7-ish on Friday.
